11 Civilians Killed in Bandits’ Retaliatory Raid on Gwalgoro Village
At least 11 people were killed in a reprisal attack by suspected bandits on Gwalgoro Village in Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State. Earlier on Saturday, a joint security team led by the Divisional Police Officer repelled an assault near strategic bridges. Several attackers were neutralised and eight motorcycles plus rustled cattle recovered. The bandits regrouped and launched another strike around midday on Sunday. The fresh raid left 11 civilians dead and was described by authorities as a cowardly act of terror. Katsina’s Commissioner for Internal Security, Dr Nasir Mu’azu, praised the professionalism of security operatives. He encouraged residents to share timely information with agencies to prevent further violence and said the government remains committed to restoring peace across the state.
