Group Gives FRSC Corps Marshal 48 Hours to Resign Over Retirement Age Claim
The Global Integrity Crusade Network has given FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed 48 hours to resign, alleging that he has remained in office after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60. In a letter dated 12 August 2026, the group said Mohammed turned 60 on 29 May 2026 and had completed more than 34 years of service. It cited the Public Service Rules, which provide for retirement at age 60 or after 35 years of pensionable service, whichever comes first. The group argued that any tenure-based appointment must be supported by the relevant laws, conditions of service or a lawful presidential exemption. It also alleged attempts to secure an extension through improper influence, an allegation Mohammed has not publicly responded to. GICN said it would organise protests and seek a court order if its demand is not met.
