Anambra RRS Arrests 66-Year-Old in Cross-State Fraud Ring, Three Suspects Still at Large
Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu foiled a suspected kidnap plot and arrested 66-year-old Kenneth Nnaji for allegedly defrauding members of the public across Anambra and Enugu states. According to the state police spokesperson, intelligence-led operations on July 11 in Awka led to Nnaji’s arrest. He confessed to belonging to a four-man syndicate that poses as company representatives in branded overalls and caps. The suspects collect goods under the pretext of taking samples, then lure victims to another location with promises of heavily discounted bulk purchases before vanishing with the goods or money. Three accomplices—Christopher, Jacob Musa, and Joseph—are still on the run. The Commissioner of Police has urged the public to verify identities before business deals, recover fraud proceeds, and prosecute all captured suspects.
