Tinubu Approves Six-Month Extension for Customs Chief Adeniyi

Tinubu Approves Six-Month Extension for Customs Chief Adeniyi

President Bola Tinubu has approved a six-month extension for the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi. His tenure will now run until February 2027, the Presidency announced through its information office. The extra term is designed to allow Adeniyi to consolidate key reforms. He will focus on implementing the National Single Window project to speed up trade facilitation and cargo clearance. The extension also creates time for a smooth leadership transition and the promotion of qualified officers. Adeniyi joined the Customs in the late 1980s and has held various leadership roles. He was appointed Comptroller-General in June 2023 and has since driven efforts to modernise operations, boost revenue, and strengthen trade processes.
