Troops, Police and Air Force Engage Bandits on Zamfara-Kebbi Border
Nigerian troops, police officers and Air Force personnel are battling an estimated 240 armed bandits along the Zamfara-Kebbi border. Security sources said the group emerged from the Sangeko Gap in Zamfara and moved on motorcycles towards Makuku town in Kebbi. The bandits reportedly split into three formations, prompting concern in nearby communities and causing some residents to flee. The operation involves the Nigerian Army's COAS Intervention Battalion 3 under 8 Division, the Mobile Police Force and the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA. Ground forces and air support are working to stop the attackers from entering surrounding communities. The Army said the operation was ongoing and that more details would be released after it concludes. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and follow security agencies' directives.
