Four Sexual Assault Reports Filed at California State University San Marcos in Three Weeks

California State University San Marcos recorded four reported sexual assault incidents in the first three weeks of September. The reports involved people who knew each other and occurred on separate dates at The Quad, University Village Apartments and Black Oak Hall. A university spokesperson said the cases are not believed to be connected. Campus safety alerts were issued to students and staff under federal requirements, while limited details were released to protect the privacy of those involved. The university said consent must be affirmative, voluntary and ongoing. It also noted that a person who is incapacitated cannot give consent. No arrests were listed in the campus police crime log at the time of the report.
