Enugu Commissions Anchorage Pharmaceutical Plant to Boost Local Drug Production
Governor Peter Mbah has commissioned Anchorage Pharmaceutical Industries Limited in Trans-Ekulu, Enugu. The new facility is expected to support local medicine production, create jobs and strengthen healthcare supply in the state. Mbah said the state would explore partnerships with the company to supply medicines to central medical stores and primary healthcare facilities. He noted that Enugu is developing 260 Type-2 primary healthcare centres, which will require dependable supplies of essential drugs. The company said it has received approvals from NAFDAC and the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria. Its management said the plant will focus on quality medicines, direct supplies to health institutions and efforts to reduce the circulation of fake and substandard drugs.
