JED to Deduct 30% From Electricity Vending for Customers Owing Over ₦1m
Jos Electricity Distribution Plc has revised its debt-recovery plan for metered customers with validated outstanding electricity bills above ₦1 million. Under the new arrangement, 30% of every vending transaction by affected customers will be deducted automatically to offset their debts. The policy replaces previous repayment structures, including fixed monthly deductions and other settlement plans. Customers owing less than ₦1 million will remain on the existing plan. Residential customers will have ₦2,000 deducted once monthly, while Maximum Demand and commercial customers will have ₦2,500 deducted monthly until their debts are cleared. JED said regular electricity vending will help customers gradually reduce their outstanding balances and support improved service delivery across its coverage area.
