Can ₦500,000–₦1 Million Start a Profitable Short-Let Business?
I am considering starting a small short-let apartment business and would like advice from people with practical experience in Nigeria’s property market. My plan is to rent and furnish a self-contained apartment, then offer it for hourly bookings, overnight stays and 24-hour reservations. My proposed startup budget is ₦500,000 to ₦1 million for rent, basic furniture, appliances and other setup costs. I would like to know how landlords respond to short-let arrangements and whether a special tenancy agreement can protect me after I invest in furnishing the apartment. I also need honest feedback on profitability, booking frequency, suitable locations, competition, security, electricity, maintenance and difficult guests. Is this budget realistic for one self-contained apartment? Advice from short-let operators, landlords and anyone with relevant experience will be appreciated.
