Navy Rescues Two Kidnap Victims, Recovers Stolen Boat Engines in Akwa Ibom
The Nigerian Navy has rescued two kidnap victims and recovered several suspected stolen outboard engines during an operation in Ibeno, Akwa Ibom State. The operation followed reports that criminal gangs were attacking fishermen, seizing boats and stealing their engines. Naval personnel reportedly pursued two suspect boats after their occupants fled into nearby creeks. One abandoned boat was said to contain the victims and the recovered engines. The victims were taken to safety, while the engines were secured for verification. The Navy says efforts are continuing to identify and arrest the fleeing suspects. It also urged coastal residents, fishermen and other maritime stakeholders to share timely information that could help security agencies tackle sea robbery and kidnapping.
