Five Arrested After E-Hailing Driver Is Allegedly Kidnapped and Sexually Assaulted in Cape Town
South African police have arrested five people over the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of a 25-year-old e-hailing driver in Cape Town. Police said the driver was allegedly lured to meet a woman he had encountered through his work. He was then reportedly held while the suspects demanded R4,000 from his brother for his release. The brother alerted police, who tracked the driver’s vehicle and rescued him in Heathfield. The suspects, including two women and three men, are due in court over allegations of kidnapping, sexual assault and ransom demands. Investigations are continuing, and the allegations have not yet been tested in court.
