Okonkwo Questions Tinubu’s UNGA Absence, Alleges US-Related Concerns

Atiku Abubakar campaign spokesperson Kenneth Okonkwo has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s absence from the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York. Okonkwo said Tinubu should have attended the meeting in person, claiming the President had missed the high-level gathering for three consecutive years. He alleged, without presenting evidence, that the absence raised questions about Tinubu’s relationship with the United States. Vice President Kashim Shettima represented Nigeria at the UN General Assembly. Okonkwo also defended Atiku over a past US-linked transaction, insisting that a $1.7 million transfer to Atiku’s wife in 2002 was for her upkeep and that no tribunal established criminality against the former vice-president.
