Otti Lifts Abia Recruitment Ban to Employ 19 Top TechRise Graduates

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has ordered the immediate recruitment of 19 outstanding graduates of the TechRise ICT programme into the state civil service. The announcement was made at the graduation of TechRise’s third cohort in Umuahia, where 850 youths completed a fully funded three-month technology training. The governor said the recruits would help address ICT skills gaps across government ministries and agencies. Otti also announced a proposed special salary cadre for ICT professionals, transferred the 850 training laptops to the graduates, and gave each participant ₦100,000. He said 2,210 youths have completed the programme so far. The state also plans to establish ICT examination and certification centres, while a team of graduates who built a functional drone will receive support to explore commercialising the innovation.
