Former Sheffield Church Leader and Wife Charged With Rape Offences
A former church leader and his wife have been charged with multiple rape offences over allegations involving one complainant in Sheffield, United Kingdom. Stephen Timmis, 68, and Janet Timmis, 61, each face eight counts relating to alleged incidents between May and September 2008. Stephen Timmis was a leader at Crowded House Church at the time. The couple have been granted bail and are due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on December 1. Police have asked former church members and others with relevant information to come forward, while stressing that support is available for witnesses. The allegations have not been proven, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
