Godwin Obire Criticises Omo-Agege’s ‘Rig and Die’ Remark, Urges Legal Action
Delta APC chieftain Godwin Obire has criticised the “Rig and Die” remark attributed to former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, calling it unfortunate and potentially dangerous. Speaking in Asaba, Obire said electoral malpractice must be opposed, but political leaders should avoid language that could heighten tensions or endanger lives. Obire urged anyone who witnesses electoral offences to report them to security agencies for investigation and prosecution. He warned that supporters might misinterpret inflammatory remarks, potentially leading to attacks on people accused of wrongdoing. He called on political leaders, security agencies and electoral authorities to promote peaceful participation and address vote-buying, ballot snatching, voter intimidation and result manipulation through lawful channels.
