Niger State Police Arrest 37-Year-Old and 16-Year-Old for Alleged Sexual Abuse of Minors
The Niger State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy for alleged sexual offences against minors. The police spokesperson disclosed the arrests in a statement on May 7, 2026. In the first case, 37-year-old Isah Usman was accused of assaulting boys aged 13, 14 and 15 in his compound. Investigators say he threatened the victims and gave them cash and honey after each incident. Medical exams confirmed penetration and the suspect has confessed to the offences. He has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and will be charged to court. In the second case, officers arrested 16-year-old Yusuf Shehu after a 14-year-old boy explained that he received between ₦2,000 and ₦2,500 following unnatural acts in an unfinished building. Police are tracing other potential victims and accomplices. Parents and guardians are advised to monitor their children closely to protect them from such crimes.
