Kano Assembly Suspends Lawmaker Over Alleged Remarks Against Governor Yusuf

The Kano State House of Assembly has suspended Yusuf Bello Aliyu, who represents Nasarawa Local Government Area, for three months over remarks it said insulted Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. The decision was taken during plenary on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Aliyu is barred from participating in legislative activities for the duration of the suspension. The action followed a video showing the lawmaker holding a rabbit while making comments allegedly directed at the governor. The assembly had previously said it would invite him over the video, and it has now asked him to publicly apologise to the governor.
