Suspected ISWAP Fighter Surrenders to Troops in Borno After Eight Months in Camp
A 25-year-old suspected ISWAP fighter has surrendered to troops in Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State after about eight months with the terrorist group. The man, a native of Ngarinna village, reportedly joined ISWAP after being introduced by a friend. He later became disillusioned with conditions in the camp, including the pressure created by sustained military operations in the North-East. He reportedly escaped the terrorist-controlled area and handed himself over to troops in Monguno. He has been transferred to the relevant authorities for screening and further action under procedures for people who voluntarily leave terrorist groups.
