Ebonyi Police Rescue Abducted Methodist Cleric, Recover Firearm
The Ebonyi State Police Command says it has rescued Rev. Ede Sunday, a Methodist cleric abducted outside his church at Ndulo Amofia in Ohaukwu Local Government Area. Police said two armed men blocked the cleric’s vehicle, forced him out and took him away on a motorcycle. Operatives reportedly pursued the abductors after receiving a distress call, prompting them to abandon him near St. James Secondary School, Amofia. His vehicle was also recovered and he has been reunited with his family. In a separate operation in Abakaliki, police said they recovered a locally made Beretta pistol loaded with one round of ammunition and a phone reportedly stolen from a robbery victim. One suspect was arrested, while efforts continue to apprehend other suspects.
