Defense Argues Bullet in Charlie Kirk Killing Doesn’t Match Suspect’s Rifle
Defense lawyers for Tyler Robinson claim the bullet recovered at Charlie Kirk’s autopsy cannot be linked to the rifle prosecutors say he used. Legal documents obtained from a major media outlet reveal that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was unable to match the bullet to Robinson’s alleged weapon in its summary report. Robinson’s team says prosecutors have not shared the full ATF report at the preliminary hearing. They plan to call the ATF firearm analyst as exculpatory evidence if the report remains undisclosed. The defense also argues there is incomplete forensic testing and has requested full case files and testing protocols before experts can review the evidence. Prosecutors have provided over 20,000 files, including 61,500 pages, 31 hours of audio and more than 700 hours of video. Robinson’s lawyers estimate they need at least 60 days to review the materials. They have also asked for the trial to be televised, noting that open proceedings help counter misinformation. Robinson faces charges including aggravated murder and felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
