Two Women Arraigned in Lagos Over Alleged ₦10.02m Czech Visa Fraud

Two women, aged 68 and 37, have appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court over allegations that they collected €6,550, valued at about ₦10.02 million, to procure a Czech Republic visa. The prosecution alleged that the money was collected from a complainant in Shasha, Lagos, between August and September 2023. The defendants were charged with conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence and stealing after allegedly failing to secure the visa and converting the funds for personal use. Both defendants pleaded not guilty. The court granted them bail of ₦1 million each with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until October 7 for further proceedings.
