UN Condemns Darfur Wedding Drone Strike That Killed 30 Civilians
The United Nations strongly condemned a drone attack on a wedding ceremony in Kutum, North Darfur, which killed at least 30 civilians, including women and children. UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric warned that civilians are bearing the brunt of escalating violence. He reiterated that targeting civilians and infrastructure with drones violates international humanitarian law and called for an immediate end to hostilities. Dujarric also highlighted severe disruptions to aid operations in Sudan and Chad. Key supply routes are closed, fuel prices have surged, and more than a million refugees in Chad face life-threatening shortages without urgent funding. He urged the international community to ensure safe, sustained humanitarian access and to support refugee-hosting countries.
