British-Ghanaian Rapper Sway DaSafo Dies at 44

British-Ghanaian hip-hop artist Sway DaSafo, born Derek Safo, has died days after celebrating his 44th birthday. The MOBO Awards announced his death with a tribute to his impact on UK hip-hop. In 2005, Sway became the first unsigned artist to win the Best Hip-Hop Act award, beating international stars including 50 Cent and The Game. The awards body described the achievement as a defining moment for both Sway and UK hip-hop.
