Dangote Refinery Plans 1.4 Million Bpd Expansion and Larger Workforce by 2029

Dangote Petroleum Refinery says it plans to expand its capacity from about 700,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2029, while doubling its workforce. The company said basic engineering for the expansion has been completed, most detailed design work is nearly done, and key equipment orders and contractor agreements are already in place. Existing infrastructure, including the port, quarry and developed land, is expected to reduce the cost of the project compared with the first phase. The refinery said it can process a broad range of African and international crude grades and is designed to maximise petrol, diesel and jet-fuel production. The planned expansion will also increase output of petrochemical products such as polypropylene, base oil and linear alkyl benzene. The company is seeking to raise about ₦2.15 trillion through an initial public offering, with the proceeds expected to support the expansion.
