Nigerian Arrested With Suspected MDMA in India as Another Dies in Jail
Indian narcotics officers arrested a Nigerian man, Okake Friday, also known as Richard, near a club in Silokhra village, Gurgaon. Police said they recovered 13.72 grams of a substance suspected to be MDMA from his backpack. Investigators said the arrest followed a tip-off alleging that he had been selling the drug and was due to make a delivery. He was charged under India’s narcotics law, while police investigate the alleged source and intended recipient of the substance. In a separate case, Alex Tochukwu Osuji, a 47-year-old Nigerian held at Bhondsi District Jail since 2024 over a narcotics case, died in hospital after his health worsened. Police said he was HIV-positive and had experienced fever, poor appetite and breathing difficulties. Authorities have opened an inquiry into the death.
