INEC Gives PDP Until October 24 to Challenge Pantami, Adebutu Omissions
INEC has given political parties until October 24, 2026, to report any candidate wrongly omitted from its final list for the February 6, 2027 governorship elections. The window affects the PDP in Gombe and Ogun, where Isa Ali Pantami and Oladipupo Adebutu were excluded from the published list. INEC said parties must formally establish why any omission should be corrected; notification alone does not guarantee that a candidate will be restored. The commission said the exclusions were guided by a September 24 Supreme Court judgment and rules requiring parties to submit membership registers within the approved timeframe. Parties that failed to meet the requirements may be unable to sponsor candidates. The PDP maintains that it complied with the relevant procedures. Its submissions before the deadline could determine whether its candidates are cleared to contest in Gombe and Ogun.
