YABATECH, Lagos Security Trust Fund Partner to Tackle Cultism and Crime on Campus
Yaba College of Technology and the Lagos State Security Trust Fund Campaign Against Crime, Cultism and Other Vices have discussed a deeper partnership to improve campus safety and prevent students from being drawn into cultism, drug abuse and other crimes. The discussion followed a recent sensitisation programme that reached more than 1,000 new students. The proposed partnership includes anti-cultism clubs, awareness billboards, security-reporting channels and expanded outreach to full-time and part-time students. YABATECH Rector Ibraheem Adedotun Abdul said the institution needs stronger security support, including improved police presence and patrols, due to threats around the campus. The security team said reports sent through its designated channels would be passed quickly to the relevant security agencies for action. Both organisations said the collaboration will focus on educating, mentoring and empowering students before they become involved in crime.
