Police Recover ₦2bn in Criminal Assets, Arrest Over 10 Fugitives in Global Crackdown
The Nigeria Police Force says its INTERPOL National Central Bureau arrested more than 10 fugitives and secured the permanent forfeiture of criminal assets worth over ₦2 billion between September 2025 and August 2026. The police said the year-long international operation also led to more than five extraditions and handovers, as well as the rescue of over 60 victims of trafficking and kidnapping. According to the Force, cooperation with INTERPOL partners across five continents supported over 43 financial-crime investigations and 15 cybercrime referrals. It said intelligence-sharing is helping Nigerian authorities trace suspects, disrupt cross-border criminal networks and recover illicit assets.
