APC Governors Accused of Backing Opposition Candidates Ahead of 2027 Polls
The Oodua Progressive Youths League has alleged that some aggrieved APC governors are backing candidates who lost the party’s National Assembly primaries to contest on opposition platforms in 2027. The group claimed the alleged plan includes influencing the nomination of APC polling agents in affected states. It named Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa among those facing scrutiny and said the moves could weaken APC candidates during campaigns and on election day. Aiyedatiwa denied the allegations, saying he has zero tolerance for anti-party activity. APC governors have also resolved to reject alliances or arrangements that could divide the party or undermine President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
