Delta 2027: Odebala Sues NDC, Claims Governorship Primary Victory
Ejaife Odebala, a former two-term Delta State House of Assembly member, has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to declare him the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election. Odebala claims he won the party’s May 29 primary after polling the highest number of votes. He alleges that results from Ughelli North, Okpe and Isoko North local government areas were excluded from the final tally. According to his court filings, including the disputed results would give him 15,454 votes against Chris Iyavwoye’s 12,015. He is asking the court to stop Iyavwoye from parading himself as the NDC candidate and direct the party and INEC to recognise him instead. The case is scheduled for hearing on Monday.
