Shettima to Lead Nigeria’s Delegation to 81st UN General Assembly

Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York from September 22 to 28, 2026. The delegation will include Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, ministers and other senior government officials. Shettima is expected to deliver Nigeria’s national statement at the General Debate. He will also attend meetings on development and climate action, hold bilateral talks with foreign leaders and engage international organisations and development partners. The Presidency said Nigeria will use the meetings to pursue economic diplomacy, strategic partnerships, climate finance and reforms to the global financial system.
