ACAMB Warns Bank Customers About Fake Alerts and Cloned Banking Websites
The Association of Corporate Communication and Marketing Professionals in Banks has warned Nigerians to stay alert as fraudsters use fake bank alerts, cloned websites and impersonation accounts to steal customers’ details. The association said scammers send messages that appear to come from legitimate banks and direct victims to fake banking portals. These sites may request login details, BVN, card information, PINs or one-time passwords. Customers should not click links in unsolicited messages or share sensitive banking details through calls, texts or social-media messages. Anyone who has entered information on a suspicious site should contact their bank immediately and block affected cards where necessary. ACAMB advised customers to confirm unusual requests through their bank’s official app, verified accounts or published customer-service channels before taking action.
