Kogi Authorities Arrest Two Over Viral Video of Kidnapped Victims Flogged in Captivity
Two suspects linked to a viral video showing kidnapped victims being flogged in captivity have been arrested in Kogi State. The footage captured the victims, abducted on April 13 from Odae-Bunu community in Kabba/Bunu LGA, pleading for help as they were beaten by their captors. Interrogation of the first suspect led to the arrest of a second accomplice and revealed the locations of the kidnappers’ camps. A joint operation involving the military, police, the Joint Task Force and over 100 local vigilantes is ongoing to track down the remaining gang members and rescue the hostages. Officials say one victim was killed and the abductors are demanding a N500 million ransom for the release of four members of a royal family. Community leaders are urging Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and security agencies to step in immediately to secure the victims’ safe return.
