Ugandan Sisters Escape Alleged Arson Attack After Religious Conversion
Two sisters in Kasese District, western Uganda, reportedly escaped after their home was set on fire while they slept. The alleged incident occurred around midnight on September 6, 2026, shortly after the sisters said they had converted from Islam to Christianity. According to accounts cited by Christian-focused publications, the sisters woke to the smell of petrol and found the house surrounded by flames. They reportedly removed bricks from a wall and escaped. Mattresses, clothing and other belongings were destroyed. Their father has been accused of setting the fire, but the allegation has not been independently confirmed. It remains unclear whether police have arrested anyone, opened a formal investigation or filed charges. If established, the attack would be a serious criminal offence and a violation of the sisters' right to choose their religion.
