Military Launches Operation CLEAN SWEEP IV Against Lakurawa, Other Terrorists

The Nigerian military has launched Operation CLEAN SWEEP IV to target the Lakurawa terrorist network and other armed groups operating around the River Niger and Kainji Lake National Park axis. The Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, said the operation is intended to stop terrorist groups from using border areas for movement, supplies and the establishment of new enclaves. It will combine coordinated ground and air operations across the North-West. Military authorities said troops carried out clearance operations around suspected terrorist enclaves in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State on 12 August 2026. They also reported airstrikes on terrorist fighters converging on motorcycles in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State, claiming that scores were neutralised.
