Gunmen Abduct and Kill ABU Lecturer at Farmhouse Near Samaru

Gunmen abducted and killed Dr Iliya Abubakar Sadiq, a lecturer and researcher at Ahmadu Bello University’s Division of Agricultural Colleges in Zaria. He was taken from his farmhouse in Tudun Muntsira, near the university’s Samaru campus, on September 20, 2026. His wife said four armed men forced their way into the farmhouse after demanding money and valuables. She said the attackers threatened the family, took Dr Sadiq away and later his body was found in Karau-Karau village. Dr Sadiq, a former Head of Programme for Pest Management, taught entomology and agriculture. He is survived by two wives and nine children. University officials described his death as a major loss and raised concern over persistent kidnapping in the North-West.
