NDLEA Arrests Convicted Trafficker Over Cocaine Shipment to Saudi Arabia, Seizes Cannabis-Laden Tanker
The NDLEA says it arrested a 34-year-old convicted drug trafficker in Lagos after tracing a 1.2kg cocaine shipment concealed inside phone chargers and bound for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The agency said the suspect was arrested at Article Market in the Ojo area while allegedly posing as a herbal tea trader. A search of his Ejigbo home reportedly uncovered modified phone chargers similar to those used to hide the cocaine. Investigators said he was previously convicted after being arrested at Lagos airport in 2011 for attempting to travel with cocaine and heroin. In a separate operation, officers intercepted a fuel tanker in Ondo State and recovered 165 bags of cannabis, weighing 2,145kg, from a hidden compartment.
