Nigerians Abroad Can Now Renew Passports Without Embassy Biometrics Visit
Eligible Nigerians abroad can now renew their passports without visiting a Nigerian embassy or high commission for biometric enrolment. The Nigerian Immigration Service says applicants can verify their identity with their NIN, submit biometrics through the NRS mobile app and track their application online. Applicants should begin by selecting an overseas renewal or reissue application on the official passport portal. After completing the form, choosing a processing embassy, uploading documents and paying the renewal fee, they can opt for the contactless service if eligible. The mobile app will guide eligible applicants through facial and fingerprint capture. Those who do not qualify can still schedule a physical appointment at their selected embassy or high commission. Applicants must still mail their current passport and printed application form, with a self-addressed return envelope, to the processing mission. They should use official Immigration Service channels to avoid fraud.
