How a Stolen Phone Report Led to the Arrest of Korope Theft Suspects in Ibeju-Lekki
My brother, Vici, said his phone was stolen after he boarded a commercial minibus, known locally as a korope, along the Ibeju-Lekki and Eti-Osa axis. He also alleged that passengers were dropped by the roadside after the incident. A key detail was the vehicle’s plate number, which he remembered and recorded. With support from the Police Community Relations Committee in Elemoro, we followed available leads and located the vehicle and its occupants. The suspects were handed over to the police around the Bogije/Elesekan area. The case was later transferred to the Area Command in Ikeja for further investigation and possible legal action. The allegations remain subject to police investigation and court proceedings. I am sharing this as a safety reminder for commuters: take note of the vehicle you board, protect your valuables, preserve useful details after an incident, and report suspected crimes to the appropriate authorities rather than confronting suspects yourself.
