Enugu Man Arrested After Girlfriend’s Death Following HIV Dispute
Police in Enugu have arrested a 30-year-old man over the death of his girlfriend after an argument about allegations of HIV infection. Police said the woman was allegedly struck on the head with a pestle on September 19. Her body was reportedly wrapped and kept in the toilet of the suspect’s apartment in the Olympic Layout area of Enugu. Neighbours reportedly forced open the apartment after noticing an offensive odour and alerted the police. The suspect was rescued from an angry mob and taken into custody. The body has been moved to a mortuary for autopsy, while police work to identify and notify the victim’s relatives. The State Criminal Investigation Department has been directed to complete a thorough investigation before the suspect is charged to court.
