Kwara PDP Alleges Plot to Suspend Two Lawmakers Who Defected From APC
The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has alleged that plans are underway to suspend two members of the state House of Assembly, Olushola Odetundun of Irepodun and Saba Yisa Gideon of Edu, after they defected from the APC to the PDP. The party claimed that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq directed Speaker Yakubu Danladi to begin suspension proceedings. The PDP said the lawmakers recently received waivers and secured its tickets for the forthcoming rerun elections. The PDP described the alleged plan as political intolerance. It argued that joining another party is not misconduct and warned that suspending the legislators would deny Irepodun and Edu constituencies representation in the Assembly. The party urged the governor and Speaker to drop any such move, saying it would challenge any action it considers unconstitutional through lawful means.
