Abuja Court Bars Police From Arresting Businessman Over Commercial Dispute
An FCT High Court in Abuja has restrained the Inspector-General of Police and other police officers from arresting, detaining or harassing Chief Francis Onyekachukwu over a commercial dispute involving Niger Green Dredging International Ltd. and Royal Technergy Frontier Ltd. Justice Y. Halilu granted the interim order on October 21, 2026, pending the hearing of a substantive motion. The court also barred the police from interfering with Onyekachukwu’s residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, or pressuring the parties to settle or repay money connected to the transaction. The court further ordered the immediate return of an SUV belonging to Onyekachukwu’s wife, which was reportedly removed from the residence on September 22. The case was adjourned until November 10, 2026.
