Husband Arrested After Slitting Throats of His 11-Year-Old Twin Daughters

A man in Kanpur, India, was arrested after allegedly murdering his 11-year-old twin daughters by slitting their throats. Police arrived early Sunday after he reportedly called them to confess. The victims’ mother has accused him of years of alcohol-fuelled violence, starvation and constant surveillance with CCTV cameras throughout the home. She said she was forced to live apart from the girls before returning nine months later because she could not bear the separation. CCTV footage showed the family having dinner and the twins being led to their father’s bedroom before the attack. The mother watched in horror as her husband took one child to the bathroom, turned off the lights and later, when she checked the feed, the children were silent. Investigators found both bodies with deep neck wounds and secured forensic evidence at the scene. The suspect remains in custody as police delve into his motive and prepare prosecution. Both bodies have been sent for postmortem.
