Lagos Warns Car Spotters Over Road Obstruction and Privacy in Ikoyi, Lekki

The Lagos State Government has warned car spotters against obstructing roads or invading motorists’ privacy while filming luxury vehicles and celebrities. It says the activity may continue only where it does not create a nuisance or endanger road users, including at car lots. Car spotters frequently gather around Admiralty Way and Alexander Avenue roundabouts in Ikoyi and Lekki, where expensive vehicles are common. Their videos attract social-media views, and some motorists and celebrities reportedly pay for or reward recordings. The practice has also drawn complaints over traffic obstruction, aggressive conduct and privacy concerns. The warning follows renewed public debate over whether enforcement is aimed at car spotters or other street nuisances, including beggars who harass motorists.
