Event Usher Shot Dead During Bolt Ride in Port Harcourt

The Rivers State Police Command is investigating the murder of an event usher, Special Bensington, in Port Harcourt on March 1. According to the police, Divine Anyanwu told officers that she and Bensington boarded a Bolt ride from a hotel on Emmanuel Road. As they passed the Total Gospel area off Odili Road, unknown gunmen riding a tricycle opened fire on them. Bensington was hit by gunshots and rushed to BMH Hospital. She died on March 21 while receiving treatment. The Divisional Police Officer and his team later visited both the scene and the hospital for further inquiries. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet forensic investigation. Efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
