Lagos Police Detain Woman, Nurse in N16.17M Fake Pregnancy and Abortion Scam
A 22-year-old woman and a nurse have been remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Centre after they were arrested over an alleged N16.17 million pregnancy and abortion fraud. The case emerged when the woman’s boyfriend petitioned police, claiming she falsely said she was pregnant and collected money for antenatal care and related expenses. Investigators say she terminated the supposed five-month pregnancy at a private facility in Ajah. The Lagos FCID also revealed ongoing probes into counterfeit baby cream imports, telecoms infrastructure vandalism and human trafficking. AIG Simeon Akpanudom urged the public to support police with credible information to boost crime prevention.
