Bandits Ambush Sabon Birni Market Road, Abduct Over 20 Traders and Farmers

Bandits Ambush Sabon Birni Market Road, Abduct Over 20 Traders and Farmers

Bandits ambushed travellers on the road to Sabon Birni market in Sokoto State on Wednesday, June 10. Riding about 20 motorcycles, they opened fire and abducted traders, farmers, and other marketgoers. The attackers blocked the main junction at Mangwaron Bullun and forced at least 20 people into nearby forests. Some victims were tied together with pieces of clothing and marched on foot when motorcycles became full. A resident said his mother was seized while working on her farm. Her husband is ill and unable to earn, leaving her as the family’s sole provider. Families are still accounting for missing relatives, as many failed to return home after the weekly market closed.
