Sen. Shehu Buba Leads Mass Exodus from Bauchi APC to PRP Amid Allegations of Rigged Primaries
Following the recent APC primaries in Bauchi State, Senator Shehu Buba Umar and several high-profile members have resigned and joined the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP). They cite lack of internal democracy, unfair treatment, and marginalisation of grassroots supporters as key reasons for their departure. Among the defectors are Senator Samaila Kaila Dahuwa, Hon. Rabilu Bala Kashuri, Hon. Shehu Aliyu Musa, and former assembly majority leader Hon. Tijjani Mohammed Aliyu. Each submitted formal resignation letters alleging predetermined results, vote allocation, and non-compliance with party guidelines during the exercise. Sen. Buba described PRP as a platform rooted in justice, transparency, accountability, and people-oriented leadership. He urged supporters, including youths and women’s groups across Bauchi, to join the “collective struggle” for good governance and responsive representation. Additional lawmakers and local chieftains say they will continue the fight for social justice and sustainable development under the PRP banner.
