President Bola Tinubu has asked a United States court to uphold redactions and withholdings on records sought under the Freedom of Information Act by transparency activist Aaron Greenspan. Greenspan is seeking documents from US agencies, including FBI interview records and files connected to investigations involving Tinubu. The requests also relate to a 1993 civil forfeiture case involving about $460,000. Tinubu has denied any wrongdoing. In court filings, Tinubu’s legal team argued that releasing the requested investigative files would violate his privacy. They asked the court to reject Greenspan’s request for summary judgment and allow the FBI and DEA to retain the disputed redactions and withholdings.
