Wike Explains Rift With Kwara Governor Over PDP Tickets Ahead of 2027
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has responded to allegations by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq that he is planting candidates on the PDP platform in the state ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking at his monthly media chat, Wike said he backed former APC senators and House of Representatives members who lost their party tickets because he did not want them to join opposition parties and work against President Bola Tinubu. He argued that the politicians were free to seek tickets elsewhere after losing out in the APC. Wike also rejected calls by some governors for the PDP not to field candidates in their states, saying he never agreed that the party should have no opposition candidates nationwide. He added that his Rainbow Coalition arrangement in Rivers State was designed to prevent political conflict by bringing allied interests together across parties.
